The kgb Daiquiri

So, I’m up working late on my new drink trivia iPhone app that will be coming out in a few weeks (learn more by clicking the “Charming Products” tab or here) and decided to take a break. Hmmmm, it hit me that I hadn’t put out a blog post in over 10 days so I click through my “ideas” folder. After a minute, I find myself tempted to see if you knew that Britney Spears applied for a bartender job back in 2007, since today was the kick-off of her new tour in New Orleans…It’s true! she actually applied at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica, California to tend bar at the Cameo bar. Just google it. Just then a commercial (see below) comes on in between Craig Ferguson interviewing Desmond Tutu on the The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. The commercial is about two poolside sunbathing girls that text for the recipe of a Daiquiri. The two knowledge experts jump in their Smart Car to show up in person. The most exciting part is that the answer in the commercial actually includes fresh lime juice and sugar syrup!

The company advertised in the commercial is called kgb (Knowledge Generation Bureau). They say to text 542542 for any question you may have and they will answer you.  I checked out their website and it appears that they’ve only made about 6 commercials and 2 of them are bar-related. The other bar-related one takes place in a bar, but it’s not posted on YouTube yet.

Here’s David Wondrich’s take on the Daiquiri.
